HAWLEY STREET CHURCH ENVELOPE IMPROVEMENTS
Northampton, MA
Client: O'Connell Development Group
Scope of Work: Preconstruction, Construction Management
Project Type: Historic Renovation
The Hawley Street Church Envelope Improvements project focused on restoring and preserving the exterior of a historic church building that had fallen into significant disrepair.
Work included a new roof installation, new soffits with integral gutters, and copper downspouts tied into the city’s stormwater system to improve drainage. Extensive masonry repointing was completed throughout the structure to reinforce the building envelope and prevent further deterioration.
The project also featured the installation of new large archtop windows with vacuum-insulated glass and the restoration of existing smaller archtop windows, also retrofitted with vacuum glass to enhance energy performance while preserving the architectural character of the building.
Select site and structural improvements were made to ensure long-term stability and visual integrity. The project received partial funding through Community Preservation Act (CPA) resources.
This project reflects Western Builders’ commitment to thoughtful restoration and delivering long-term solutions for aging and historically significant structures.
